Stellate Hexany Boxes #1 and #2 at Automata

I created two musical hologram boxes, which will be on display Thursday, June 6 at Automata as part of Dissolving Sight II. This event is organized by Laurie O’Brien, Janie Geiser, Susan Simpson, and Melissa Ferrari, and hosted by Automata.
Stellate Hexany Boxes #1 and #2 use “Pepper’s Ghost” to create hologram-like animations of 3D polyhedrons within cigar boxes. Each of these ghostly structures represents a microtonal tuning system designed by Erv Wilson. As music plays, the animated images bubble with corresponding lights. These boxes build on my prior microtonal multimedia pieces and my work with music boxes.
